Hey there fellow bug enjoyers, the first ever BicBugs Art Contest is here! Insects have been used in various art forms for thousands of years, something we’re proud to be a part of!
With this contest, BicBugs aims to shine a spotlight on artists who are bug crazy like we are, as well as the myriad of critters who make up the phylum Arthropoda. Three contestants will be selected by BicBugs staff to win store credit valid at www.BicBugs.com! First place will receive $75, second place will receive $50 and third place will receive $25! Please see below for the official rules and entry procedure.
We invite you to share your Buggy Creations with us through one of the following categories below:
- Displays (such as cloches, terrariums, etc)
- Framed specimens
- Handcrafted works
- Illustrated works
- Photography
Please carefully review our official rules below and submit your entry by Monday, February 26th 2024 at 11:59pm MST. The BicBugs team is excited to see what fantastic works of art will be submitted!
Official Rules
A. Contestant must legally reside in the United States of America or one of the 5 permanently inhabited territories (eg. Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa)
B. Entry Period: You may enter the contest only between Monday, February 19th 2024 at 12:00am MST and Monday, February 26 2024 at 11:59pm MST.
C. Entry Procedure: Create a piece of art including, themed around, or of Insects in one (1) of the following five (5) categories:
- Displays: This may include cloches, terrariums or dioramas.
- Framed specimens: This may include single framed specimens, collages of many specimens, or shadow box displays.
- Handcrafted works: This may include jewelry, make up applications, resin art, sculptures (such as polymer clay, felt, various metals, etc).
- Illustrated works: This may include any form of artwork, be it digital or hand illustrated.
- Photography: This may include any photos of insects, altered or unaltered.
Submit your artwork via the Google form linked below. Please include the following information in the fields below:
- Entry Title & Chosen Category.
- Artist’s social media profile.
- Brief description of submitted work.
- Submitted artwork
- Your social media profile, entry title and description will be posted alongside your submission should it be selected.
- Please do not include sensitive personal information (full name, address, etc) unless it is part of your social media handle.
- By submitting an entry to this contest, contestants are granting BicBugs permission to post their artwork, with proper credit and links to the artist, on various social media platforms.
D. Winner Selection: BicBugs will select three (3) contestants to be categorized into our finalists. An additional selection will be made of five (5) honorable mentions. These placements will be determined by the following criteria:
- Creativity of the submitted works
- Technical quality of the submitted works
- Compliance to the theme “Insects & Bugs”
E. Prizes: The three (3) finalists will be sorted into First, Second and Third place. These finalists will each receive a gift card valid at BicBugs.com. First place will receive $75, second place will receive $50 and third place will receive $25.
F. Winner Notification: Winners & honorary mentions will be informed via email by Wednesday, February 28th 2024 on their placement.
