Interesting Facts about Antlions:

Antlions are a group of insects that comprise about 2000 different species. They are in the family Myrmeleontidae and immature antlions will dig small holes in the ground to trap ants and other passing prey. Other common names for antlions include lacewings and doodlebugs (because of the strange marks larvae leave as they move across soil).

Adults mostly fly at dusk or right after dark and are commonly mistaken for dragonflies and damselflies.
